Tan has been with Medmont for decades.
He began making our (then M600) Automated Perimeter (used for testing glaucoma and other ocular and neurological conditions that require a visual field test) out of our founder’s garage in suburban Australia.
“Tan’s knowledge and experience in manufacturing the M700, and his willingness to go the extra mile to satisfy our customers, makes him an invaluable member of the Production Team,“ said Medmont’s Operations Manager Steve.
“His attention to detail and exacting high standards in making a handcrafted product has been an essential part of the success of the M700 around the world.”
Over the years, Tan has had a front-row seat to Medmont’s success and expansion, watching our product portfolio grow to include corneal topographers.
Nowadays, you’ll find him in our Nunawading, Melbourne headquarters, assembling, testing and packing the M700 with pride and care. Read on to learn more about Tan.
Hi Tan. What do you do at Medmont?
I am responsible for production of the M700 Automated Perimeter, and ensuring the customer receives a good-quality device.
You’ve been with Medmont since the beginning. How did you come to work here?
The founder’s son and my brother are best friends. I was looking for work and Trevor told me that his dad was hiring. I volunteered, eager to learn and work in the industry. I have been enjoying this job ever since.
Our founder was an intelligent, knowledgeable and friendly person and I learnt a lot from him. I continue to learn new skills (such as painting the E300 and M700) and look forward to working here for many years to come.
How have Medmont’s perimeters changed over the years?
I’ve enjoyed watching the perimeter develop into a very reputable, quality device. From my perspective, the M700 is quicker and easier to assemble [than the original M600].
What’s your proudest Medmont career achievement/moment?
I feel proud every time I finish a product and pack an M700. I feel proud to produce the M700 and sell it across the world. I hope customers are satisfied with the end product.
What do you like most about working at Medmont?
I like the people at Medmont, working together to get the job done. I enjoy coming to work every day.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
Relaxing at home, doing the gardening, washing my car and travelling with my family.
