Torin Heavyside
General Manager
Medmont has witnessed organic success under Torin’s authentic leadership. Building on our legacy, he steers our focus towards continuously improving and producing high-quality, high-value instruments.
Torin has built a robust leadership team, culture, working environment and structure. This empowers the Medmont team with the resources and autonomy to innovate so we can make a real difference in customer and patient lives.
Torin holds a B.Sc. in Biology with distinction from University of British Columbia.
Interesting fact: An avid birdwatcher, Torin lived in the rainforest while conducting bird ecology research in Columbia, Peru, Ecuador and Canada.
Torin’s interests: Golf, nature photography, diving and cooking .
Paul Lichtenauer
Corporate Director – Chief Technical Advisor
Paul is Medmont’s longest serving team member, having been with us for over 25 years.
Paul is a key advisor for product development at Medmont. He’s instrumental in concept and algorithm development and design for our corneal topographers. Paul also leverages his diverse skills in the areas of systems engineering, production, regulatory frameworks and quality management.
Paul’s exceptional technical and managerial skills were honed while leading R&D for corporations in Germany. His background includes early high-power sources and systems for material processing, as well as ophthalmic medical laser systems.
Paul holds a B.Eng. from the University Munich for Applied Sciences major in Optics, Mechanical Design and Electronics.
Paul’s interests: Nature, beach and bushwalking with his wife and family.
Paula Boult
People & Culture Manager
Paula brings to Medmont nearly 30 years of experience and an indisputable passion for people. She turns strategy into reality through people and the organisation.
A firm believer in the importance of each individual’s potential contribution, Paula’s focus is recruiting the best talent for Medmont, helping staff with ongoing personal development, and providing an engaging place to work.
Paula holds a B.A. in Psychology and Management and a B.A. Honors degree in Industrial Psychology.
Interesting fact: Paula grew up as part of a manufacturing family, and she enjoys being part of the Medmont customer focused team.
Sheldon Liang
Quality and Regulatory Affairs Manager
Sheldon has over 18 years in the medical device industry. At Medmont, Sheldon leads all aspects of quality and regulatory strategy development and implementation. He also communicates directly with global regulatory agencies on all regulatory matters.
Sheldon holds a Bachelor in Electrical Science from Beijing University of Post and Telecommunications, as well as a Masters in Nuclear Technology Science from Tsinghua University.
Interesting fact: Sheldon was a fan of spicy food for many years, but he’s not allowed to eat anything too spicy anymore!
Sheldon’s interests: Scuba diving, spear fishing, and any sport that keeps him outside.
Marcelle Nadler
Senior Product Marketing Manager
Marcelle joined Medmont in 2022 from a role as Product Marketing Manager for Nikon-Essilor. She draws on over a decade of first-hand insights in optometry and optics to drive our product innovations and marketing.
Formerly a practicing optometrist, Marcelle holds a Bachelor of Vision Science, a Masters in Optometry and a Graduate Certificate in Business Administration. Marcelle’s passion and expertise makes her an invaluable addition to our team.
Marcelle’s interests: travel, exploring Melbourne’s food scene, fashion, and cooking for friends and family.
